Haswell's the Hero for Cleeve
Mike Haswell is the latest Evening Post cricketer of the week for his fantastic knock of 166 not out, which helped Cleeve to a six-wicket win at Failand & Portbury in Division One of the Bristol & District League.
The home side were put into bat and made 288-6 from their 45 overs, a total which on most days would have been enough for victory. However, even at this stage Haswell played his part by taking three catches, including those which dismissed the hosts' top scorers, Edward Humphreys (99) and Hugo Hanchet (80).
And if Failand & Portbury were in danger of believing the win was already in the bag, such thoughts were soon dispelled when opener Haswell came in to bat.
His 166 came from 110 balls and 144 were scored in boundaries. He hit 18 fours and 12 sixes.
Cleeve finished on 291-4, scoring the winning runs with eight balls to spare.
